As a Principal of Copeland Ashcroft Law, Janet is able to provide full range of employment law advice to clients.
Janet holds both a law degree and a commerce degree from Otago University.
Having originally commenced her career as a staff solicitor involved in criminal and civil litigation, Janet then joined the Otago Southland Employers' Association Inc in Dunedin as a solicitor/human resources adviser. Janet has specialised in employment law for the past 18 years having given advice on all aspects of employment law including discipline and dismissals, restructuring and redundancy, wage and holiday pay claims, dealing with unions and collective bargaining, drafting and advising on individual employment agreements, claims in the Employment Relations Authority and the Employment Court.
Janet predominantly works with employers and has experience across a very broad range of sectors including manufacturing, construction, transport, health, education, agriculture, state/crown entities, tourism, hospitality, professional services and trade areas.
She has also represented a large number of employees from a very wide range of industries.
Outside of work Janet enjoys cycling, both road and mountain and also enjoys skiing, both water and snow - however fitting any of these in around the lives of her busy children is often a real challenge!
