Kate has specialised in employment and health and safety throughout her career, and is passionate about providing commercially pragmatic, tailored solutions to client issues.
Kate acts for employers across a range of industries, giving strategic, compliance and best practice advice on non-contentious matters as well as providing representation in disputes. Kate’s background includes work with a large, top-tier national law firm, an award-winning national employment law boutique, and on secondment in-house in both the private and public sectors.
She regularly presents training and at conferences on employment and health and safety issues. In addition, she is an experienced independent investigator, and holds a certificate in workplace investigations from the Association of Workplace Investigators, as the only internationally recognised course of its nature.
Kate is a member of the Institute of Directors, is on the Bay of Plenty Branch Committee of the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand (HRNZ) and is a Trustee of Baywide Community Law Service which provides free legal advice for people on low incomes or with disabilities or other disadvantages.
Kate works between Tauranga and Auckland, and connects with clients throughout New Zealand.
Shoosh specialises in immigration law and enjoys partnering with clients to provide practical immigration advice. He is particularly passionate about making complex immigration matters simple and accessible.
Shoosh is a Senior Associate based in Auckland, with over 7 years of experience in immigration.
His recent work includes:
- Helping employers build systems and processes to streamline securing visas for cohorts of between approximately 20-150 migrant staff
- Obtaining resident visas for high net worth individuals and their family under the new Active Investor Plus category
- Obtaining a special direction to allow an individual to be granted a work visa where they were previously deported from the USA
- Securing accreditation for significant companies in New Zealand and managing their accreditation including: completing audits, making disclosures and other related work
- Securing medical and character waivers
- Assisting multi national companies with global mobility to allow talent to travel to and work in New Zealand
Shoosh is a member of the Law Association Immigration Committee and is an author for Thomson Reuters Human Rights Law resource.
In his spare time, Shoosh enjoys spending time with family and hiking around New Zealand.
Ashvini is a Solicitor in our Auckland office. She graduated from Auckland University of Technology in 2022 with a Bachelor of Laws and was admitted to the bar in 2023.
She is looking forward to beginning her formal legal career in employment law.
Outside of the office, Ashvini is a talented freelance makeup artist. In her spare time, she likes taking her dog to the park, spending time with friends, painting, and checking out new pizza spots.
